Solving Problems & Challenges with Provocative Questions

question on the wall

Using the same question in a variety of ways, provides different approaches to solving problems and challenges!!!

I had six honest serving men, they taught me all I knew; their names were what? & where? & when? & why? & how? & who? and cousins What if? In what ways? Can we? Can I? Is it? Etc.?

What?  What is the problem?  What can we do?  What can I substitute?  What can I combine?  What can I adapt?  What can I modify?  What can I magnify?  What other uses? What can be eliminated?  What can I reverse?  What can I rearrange? & etc.

Where?  Where can I find it?  Where are the resources?  Where is the information?  Where can I go?  Where should I look?  Where will I see it? & etc.

When?  When will I see it?  When will it arrive?  When will we know?  When is the right time?  When can we go?  When is the wrong time?  When will our schedules match?  When can we reverse course?  When can we combine our resources? & etc.

Why?  Why is this a problem?  Why can’t we do this over?  Why is it so soft?  Why is it so hard?  Why can’t we modify the agenda?  Why can’t we combine resources?  Why can’t we enlarge it?  Why can’t we reverse course?  Why can’t we rearrange the list?  Why can’t we eliminate absenteeism?  Why can’t we do it this way for future benefits?  & etc.

How?  How can I substitute the information?  How can I combine the ingredients?  How can I adapt this information to our needs?  How can I modify the proposal?  How can we magnify or enlarge our base?  How can I market more effectively?  How can we eliminate the waste in our department?  How can we reverse course?  How can we rearrange the invitations? & etc.

Who?  Who will do it?  Who will substitute for me?  Who will combine our resources?  Who will adapt to our philosophy? Who will modify the present plan to fit our requirements?  Who is willing to magnify his calling?  Who is capable to put our finances to other uses?  Who can we eliminate from the list?  Who can reverse our course effectively?  Who is the rearrangement specialist? & etc.

Using the “What if…?” principle:  What if we substitute our present plan for his plan?  What if we combine our resources?  What if we adapt to his way of thinking?  What if I modify our proposal?  ?  What if I add more names to the list?  What if we put our resources to other uses?  What if we eliminate the previous proposal?  What if we reverse the order on the agenda?  What if we rearrange the seating? & etc.

Using “In what ways can we…?  In what ways can I substitute the first plan for the second proposal?  In what way can we add the time to the project?  In what ways can I modify our proposal?  In what ways can we combine our resources?  In what ways can we adapt to the climate change?  In what ways can we eliminate the chatter?  In what ways can we reverse schedules?  In what ways can we rearrange the produce section? & etc.

Others: Can we do it this way?  Can you see the difference?  Can you modify the recipe?  Can you combine the ingredients?  Can we rearrange the schedule?  Can we make the base harder?  Can we eliminate the accounting department? & etc.  Is it possible to make ends meet?  Is it the right color?  Is it better to keep on course?  Is the time right to advance?  Is it better to retreat?  Do you think we can do it this way?  Do you want to make plans for the future?  Which will it be?  Which candidate will you choose?  Which plan is best for our future?

Using the word “To”: To accomplish our goal to be more efficient we will do the following…  To overcome my reluctance to practice, I will do the following…  To find solutions to this problem, I will search for more information.  To prevent harm to our project we must increase our security.
